Justin Marks admits challenges with managing finances in motorsports

For Justin Marks, balancing the books isn’t always the easiest thing to do. That goes for NASCAR and his MotoGP teams. Trackhouse has won for the first time in MotoGP in just its second season in the sport. But could Marks be on the way out already?
Justin Marks recently spoke to Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal about his motorsports endeavors. Most importantly, the money aspect. As far as MotoGP goes, Marks wants to remain in the sport, but he may need some equity from another investor to do that. The team’s riders often have team-branded bikes instead of the usual sponsorship from outside companies.
On the NASCAR side, Marks is committed to the Cup Series. Still, money has to make sense.
“It’s tough. One of the things that’s tough about it is you can always spend more and more money on chasing speed and success that doesn’t fit into a box like stick-and-ball sports do with salary caps and all that kind of stuff,” Marks told Stern of SBJ. “So what we have to be careful of is that we’re spending money on things that are the most effective in getting the results for the business as possible, not being wasteful, because it’s a very competitive landscape for sponsors.
“There’s a lot of ways companies can spend money, and we just need to make sure as an industry that the price point of getting involved in NASCAR doesn’t outpace the value proposition. For us, we’ve been very successful at it just because we’ve been very authentic about our mission, authentic people, and work really hard to create a great experience at the race track for people.”
Justin Marks has trio of elite drivers for 2026
Ross Chastain, Connor Zilisch, and Shane van Gisbergen. Those are the three drivers that Justin Marks is bringing to the track each week next year in the NASCAR Cup Series. Chastain, even with Trackhouse taking a step back in overall performance, has consistently won races each year since 2022. He’s got two fantastic teammates, too.

Everyone knows what SVG gives this Trackhouse program. He is going to win multiple road course races a year and is already starting to run in the top-10 during oval races. His end-of-the-season runs were some of the best of the year for the 88 team. Of course, he’s going back to the 97 branding in 2026.
Connor Zilisch just won 10 races in the Xfinity Series. He set so many records and earned so many accolades. While he didn’t win the championship, Zilisch is a world-class talent, and at 19, he has decades ahead of him if he so chooses.
Justin Marks knows he has an abundance at Trackhouse Racing when it comes to driver talent. He will likely be spending time in Victory Lane a few times in 2026.
