Disaster for Tyler Ankrum! Kaden Honeycutt drove through the 18, and now Ankrum has a tough situation on his hands. This is the second race of the NASCAR Truck Series Playoffs. This complicates things for the MHR team.

Kaden Honeycutt had a massive run off the corner. He let that run continue down the backstretch and just went through Tyler Ankrum. Honeycutt took the blame for the incident on his radio afterward.

Ankrum was a top-five truck before this. Now, he’s dropped down to a lap down and fighting for points tonight. For a moment, Ankrum fell to sixth overall and was only a few points above 8th place, Rajah Caruth. He has been able to recover as the race has gone on.

This isn’t the end for Tyler Ankrum, but Kaden Honeycutt didn’t do him any favors with this spin. Can the 18 bounce back tonight at Bristol, or will Ankrum have to wait until New Hampshire?

Kaden Honeycutt could use a great finish tonight. He’s racing in the owner’s championship and the driver’s championship. He took over the 52 truck for Stewart Friesen after his injuries. He is 7th overall in points and will go into New Hampshire with a bit of pressure on him to maintain or improve that position.

Kaden Honeycutt can’t relax at New Hampshire

With only 18 points between Kaden Honeycutt and elimination, the next race at New Hampshire is going to be full of pressure. Tyler Ankrum managed to come away +29 to 9th-place, Jake Garcia.

Honeycutt is 7th in points. Rajah Caruth is 8th and in the final transfer position for the next round. Caruth is only +14 to Garcia. Even though there are drivers in good points positions above the cutline, nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs. One mistake could send someone like Grant Enfinger, also +29, below the cutline in an instant.

You have to think that next week will be do-or-die for Chandler Smith. -24 points to the cutline, he almost has to win to advance. He’s not mathematically in must-win territory, but for all intents and purposes, he is.

Kaden Honeycutt managed to finish 12th tonight. Tires were wearing pretty harshly. It was definitely a tire management game out there on the track. Layne Riggs comes away with the win. One more race until the Round of 8 is locked in.
