Halmar Friesen Racing announced Tuesday that Kaden Honeycutt will pilot the No. 52 Tundra in place of the injured Stewart Friesen for the remainder of the 2025 NASCAR Truck Series season, beginning with the Aug. 15 race at Richmond Raceway. Friesen is out of action after suffering a broken pelvis and a fractured right leg in Super DIRTcar Series race last week.

Niece Motorsports released Honeycutt from his contract Monday. Honeycutt signed a deal to race for a different organization in 2026, so Niece decided to cut ties with Honeycutt to begin preparing for 2026. The No. 52 truck is championship eligible in the owner standings, while Honeycutt is sixth in the points standings.

“While I continue to recover, it was important for us to put someone in our truck that can help us compete at the highest level,” Friesen said. “I know Kaden will deliver strong performance in our truck and allow us to continue to run for the owner’s championship.”

Kaden Honeycutt gets another shot to compete in 2025

Honeycutt, 22, has been a standout in his first full-time season in the Truck Series. He has compiled nine top 10s and a pair of top 5s in 16 starts. Honeycutt has a 73-point buffer on the playoff cutline, potentially giving him an opportunity to compete for both a driver and owner’s championship this season.

“It’s an honor to be able to fill in for Stewart for the rest of the season and help give his team a chance at the owner’s championship, which they earned. I’m excited to compete in contending, race-winning equipment as I pursue a title this season,” Honeycutt said. “We are going to work hard to have a solid final eight races of the season and continue to deliver great results for Stewart, his family and this organization.”
