The Kansas and Kansas State rivalry is annually one of the most heated in college football. The two in-state rivals are only separated by 86 miles. And they’ll renew their rivalry on Saturday in Bill Snyder Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas.

The early point spread on the game has been released and it is currently Kansas State (-9.5), according to FanDuel. The over-under is also slated at 56.5 total points.

Kansas State has dominated the rivalry in recent years, winning the last 15 games in the Sunflower Showdown since 2009. In last year’s version, Kansas State stormed back trailing 27-16 in the third quarter.

The Wildcats prevailed 31-27, thanks to a touchdown each from running back DJ Giddens and quarterback Will Howard, their two superstars. The last time Kansas won in the series came in 2008, when the Jayhawks rolled to a 52-21 thrashing behind their defense forcing KSU quarterback Josh Freeman to throw three interceptions.

Kansas is off to an incredibly disappointing start this year, 1-5. Quarterback Jalon Daniels has been turning the ball over at an extremely high rate. He’s only completed 54% of his passes for 1,065 passing yards, while tossing in seven touchdowns with eight interceptions. He’s been sacked seven times. As a runner, Daniels has 131 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Kansas running back Devin Neal is clearly the superstar that has carried the load for them in the backfield this year. Through six games, he has 100 carries for 584 yards and five touchdowns. They also feature a trio of receivers with over 200 receiving yards each, Luke Grimm (354 receiving yards), Quentin Skinner (235 receiving yards), and Lawrence Arnold (214 receiving yards).

The Kansas State Wildcats are off to a 5-1 start, and they feature two of the most dynamic weapons in the Big 12 Conference in quarterback Avery Johnson and running back DJ Giddens. Johnson has already rolled up over 1,400 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns. DJ Giddens is one of the nation’s most talented tailbacks and he’s got the stats to prove it. Giddens has already rolled up 786 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Through their first six games, the Wildcats averaged 241 rushing yards, ranking them eighth in the country in that stat category.
