Kansas City radio host eviscerates Patrick Mahomes over offseason dad bod: 'Dude, you're fat'

Before Patrick Mahomes arrived in Kansas City, the Chiefs had won the Super Bowl just once — back in 1970. Since then, Kansas City has hoisted three Lombardi trophies, becoming the NFL‘s latest version of a dynasty.
Mahomes has had a lot to do with the Chiefs’ success. But to Kansas City radio host Kevin Kietzman, Mahomes is an “embarrassment.” Mahomes spent his Fourth of July alongside his wife Brittany on a yacht in Miami. The three-time Super Bowl MVP was seen shirtless in one photo; Kietzman called him “fat” and encouraged him to stay away from Taco Bell.
“Vacation photos are popping up of Patrick Mahomes and he’s fat,” Kietzman said on his iHeartRadio podcast, Kevin Kietzman Has Issues, via Awful Announcing. “I’m gonna say it and I’m gonna tell you the truth, that’s why you hit the play button. He’s an embarrassment. You’re a $500 million quarterback. You’ve made all these comments in the offseason that, ‘We’re gonna do our talking on the field. We got our butts kicked in the Super Bowl. We’re coming back with a vengeance.’ Dude, you’re fat. Your belly would be fat at my pool, hanging out with us 60-year-olds.
“… Stop the fast food. Do a sit-up. Do something… there’s no training to this man. I don’t understand it. He’s not a kid anymore. You can’t just run through your NFL career eating Taco Bell all the time… it’s time, dude. It’s time.”

Patrick Mahomes entering 9th season in NFL
Mahomes still has two weeks before the start of training camp on Tuesday, July 22. While you will never confuse Mahomes for a bodybuilder, that’s not his goal. Mahomes’ trainer, Bobby Stroupe, defended his physique in September 2024.
“I don’t need him to look like a model,” Stroupe said. “The way he chooses to play requires a certain type of physicality, and that physicality needs more body fat. That is a core belief that I do have for him.”
Mahomes’ physique has never impacted his play. Entering his ninth season in the league, Mahomes remains the consensus best quarterback in the league. This past season, he threw for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on 67.5% passing. Kansas City made it back to the Super Bowl for the third consecutive season, suffering a 40-22 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.
