Kansas City Royals share moment Jac Caglianone got called up to the big leagues

Former Florida slugger Jac Caglianone officially got his Major League call-up from the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. His stay in the minor leagues lasted only a couple months.
Caglianone was called into a team office by Omaha Storm Chasers manager Mike Jirschele. Jirschele then informed him of the news, albeit in a roundabout way.
“All right, seriously. How do you feel?” the skipper said. “You feel a little tired, because you’ve been doing a lot of stuff? I mean you’ve been doing outfield stuff and you’ve been taking your ground balls, everything. So you feel like you’re at the point where you can help, like, them up there? You think you could?”
Jac Caglianone wasted little time responding, after initially noting that he feels good. He answered in the affirmative right away.
“Holy crap. That sounds great,” he said.
Ironically enough, Jac Caglianone spoke about what it would be like to get the call-up earlier on Sunday in an interview with Olivia Eisenhauer at WCJB. He said it’s what he, as well as his younger self, would have expected him to finally do one day.
“He probably would have been like, yeah, you’re right, like, it’s definitely going to happen,” said Caglianone. “I think, ever since I could grasp the concept of being a professional baseball player, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. So, I think he would be expecting that answer. So, yeah, I think he’d be excited but he’d definitely be like, good, I mean, that’s what we wanted.”
Later that day, Jac Caglianone got to experience the whole thing for real. Jirschele kept peppering him, letting him fully experience the moment.

“All right, then you can get on the charter tomorrow night and go with them,” Jirschele said. Caglianone once again was beside himself.
“Shoot, player,” Caglianone said. “Holy cow. I need to call my dad.”
Caglianone was then asked what he thought about the call-up when he first was called into the office. He revealed he thought he was actually going to be in trouble.
Not the case. Instead, he’s headed to the bigs.
“Just remember, it’s still a game,” Jirschele added by way of advice. “It’s baseball. It’s a little higher level, but you know when you can play.”
Jac Caglianone certainly knows that. Through 79 games, with 315 at bats, in the minors with Quad Cities, Northwest Arkansas, and Omaha, Caglianone is batting .292/.358/.517 with 17 home runs and 70 RBI. Go to just this season with Northwest Arkansas and Omaha and Caglianone has upped those to .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs and 56 RBI.
It was enough for the Royals to request his services right away. To wrap up the video, someone from off camera chimed in.
“I don’t think you’re going to the zoo tomorrow,” they said. Indeed.
