Kenny Bednarek shooting for 3 gold medals at 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

‘Kung Fu’ Kenny Bednarek leaves the Paris 2024 Olympics having added a silver medal to his impressive Track & Field resume.
To him, it sets the stage for a massive coming out party in Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympic Games. The 25-year-old has already set his goals for the next Olympics — he wants gold.
“2x Olympian and 2x Silver Medalist,” Kednarek wrote in a post on X ahead of the Olympics’ closing ceremony. “Representing my country and Team USA is an honor I’ll never take lightly. Competing in three events this year has taught me so much, and it’s only fueled my hunger for more. LA 2028 is in my sights and I’m aiming for one thing: 3 gold medals.”
He doesn’t just want to win his first Olympic gold medal — he has his heights set on winning multiple.
Bednarek was a part of three events in Paris over the past week. He earned the second silver medal of his career in the men’s 200m, but finished seventh in the men’s 100m and eighth in the 4x100m relay, the latter of which saw the United States get disqualified from the race after a botched hand-off between Christian Coleman and Bednarek.

Assuming he’ll continue to compete in those events — he’ll need a flawless performance four years from now to achieve that lofty goal. For the men’s 100m — which earns the gold medalist the title of the fastest man in the world — is one of the most cut-throat races and was decided by photo finish in favor of Badnarek’s American teammate, Noah Lyles.
Bednarek finished ahead of Lyles in the 200m, as the 100m champion earned a third place finish to win the bronze. Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo was ahead of them both as he secured gold in the men’s 200m.
Bednarek’s first Olympic medal saw him claim silver in the men’s 200m in Tokyo in 2020. However, 2024 was the first time he qualified for the men’s 100m. A seventh-place finish in 2024 to a gold-medal performance in 2028 is a massive jump — but one ‘Kung Fu’ Kenny seems up for.
As for the men’s 4×100 relay, Team USA was off to a strong start in the event before the hand-off. It will forever be up for debate where the American relay team would have finished had the error not occured, but it’s clear that Bednarek has confidence in the United States’ abilties.
