Kentucky at South Carolina odds: Early point spread updated, How to Watch

Kentucky and South Carolina are set to clash in a Southeastern Conference Week 5 matchup next weekend, with the game set to take place at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC.
The Wildcats, which started the season 2-1 with wins over Toledo and Eastern Michigan and a 30-23 loss to No. 20 Ole Miss, are coming off their early season bye-week. South Carolina opened its season strong with dominant wins over Virginia Tech and South Carolina State, but has now dropped back-to-back games to Vanderbilt and No. 23 Missouri.
Ahead of the matchup, the early point spread and more have been revealed. All odds are courtesy of BetMGM. South Carolina has opened as 6.5-point home favorites over Kentucky, with the over/under set at 47.5 points.
These programs last met last season in Lexington, marking the 36th time the ‘Cats and ‘Cocks have clashed. South Carolina dominated Kentucky 31-6 in both teams’ SEC opener, thanks to a 166 passing yards and two touchdowns from quarterback LaNorris Sellers. Carolina leads the all-time series 21-14-1 and has won three consecutive games in the series.

Location: Williams-Brice Stadium (Columbia, SC)
Although the bar wasn’t very high, Kentucky has certainly looked better than it did last year through three games this season. The Wildcats handily won their non-conference games against Toledo and Eastern Michigan and competed with Ole Miss in their SEC opener. After averaging just 27 points through two games, head coach Mark Stoops named redshirt sophomore Cutter Boley the starting quarterback and he looked mightily impressive in the win over Eastern Michigan.
Boley, who played in four games last season, completed 12/21 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Kentucky‘s offense has really been ran through running back Seth McGowan though. McGowan, a transfer from New Mexico State, boasts 275 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns through three games.
Under Mark Stoops, Kentucky is 7-5 against South Carolina (won five consecutive games from 2014-2018). The ‘Cats however are just 2-3 in games played inside Williams-Brice Stadium.

South Carolina heads into this game reeling following its 29-20 loss to Missouri. LaNorris Sellers enjoyed his best game of the young season, as he passed for 302 yards and two touchdowns. The Gamecock defense however once again let him down, giving up at least 29 points for the second consecutive game. Facing a Kentucky offense that doesn’t quite light the field up, their true colors will be revealed.
The Gamecocks got extremely lucky in the loss, as defensive back/punt returner Vicari Swain was called for targeting but it was overturned upon review. If he was ejected against the Tigers, he would have missed the first half of the game against Kentucky. Luckily for Carolina, they don’t have to worry about that. Swain has returned three punt return touchdowns through four games this season.
The matchup is extremely important for Carolina, as they will have dropped three consecutive conference games for the fourth time in five years under head coach Shane Beamer with a potential loss to the Wildcats.
