Kevin Harvick reacts to Legacy Motor Club Darlington performance, Jimmie Johnson's renewed impact

Kevin Harvick knows that Jimmie Johnson‘s increased involvement at Legacy Motor Club has helped the drivers on the track. On Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick reacted to Legacy drivers Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek finishing third and fourth, respectively, at Darlington.
“That guidance and leadership from a seven-time champion, but also the owner, and having a presence there on a weekly basis, you can’t replace it,” Kevin Harvick said about Jimmie Johnson. “Being able to have have been in the car and understand and what the things that they’re fighting, and that results directly into being able to watch, listen and learn just by doing that. When you’re there week after week after week, this is a problem-solving mission on a daily basis.”
Harvick went on to say that having Johnson there at Legacy headquarters on a daily basis has helped the drivers have stronger finishes in races. Harvick mentioned that Jones and Nemechek raced in the top 10 at Darlington “all night long,” and “we’ve seen steady improvement out of that organization.”

Kevin Harvick says Jimmie Johnson is ‘rebuilding his brand’
Johnson has been an owner of Legacy Motor Club since 2022 (was called Petty GMS Motorsports at the time). The move came a couple of years after he finished his full-time career as a Cup Series driver. During his time in the Cup Series, Johnson won 83 races, earned 375 top-10 finishes and won the Cup Series title seven times. He’s a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.
Harvick talked then refelcted on his interview with Johnson, who talked about the impact he has on NASCAR and how he hasn’t done a good job capitalizing on that. “Now he’s almost rebuilding his brand,” Harvick said. And as weird as that is to say about a seven-time champion, but he said it. He’s like, ‘I walk outside and I’m the third guy, but only two of the three seven-time champs have merchandise and a recognizable brand to be able to continue that tradition in the sport.’ He’s like ‘I just haven’t done a good job with that.'”
