Kevin Harvick reacts to Carson Hocevar, Layne Riggs middle finger finish at Kansas

Carson Hocevar is never one to shy away from showing some emotion on the racetrack. After beating Layne Riggs to the start/finish line on the final lap of this past Saturday’s Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway, Hocevar had a gift for his competitor.
As Hocevar came out of Turn 4 and approached the start/finish line, he threw a middle finger out of his window directed at Riggs. FOX Sports analyst Kevin Harvick loved both the finish and Hocevar’s “antics,” he said on his “Happy Hour” podcast.
“It was a fantastic finish, I will say that. … I love the emotion, love the antics and everything that goes with everything at the end of this race,” Harvick said. “I think Hocevar’s edgy and a bit unique and I think that Layne Riggs is right on the verge of winning races and he’s pushing the limits. It was two guys going at it to win a race. I guess that natural reaction from Hocevar — flipping him off — is that short track mentality of you tried and I beat your ass.”

Hocevar and Riggs had a hard-fought battle on that final lap at Kansas. At one point, Riggs got into the left rear of Hocevar, nearly sending him spinning. Hocevar saved it and beat Riggs back to the start/finish line to secure his fifth-career Trucks victory.

While Riggs mentioned the middle finger post-race, he didn’t seem too bothered by it. But Hocevar still had to talk about it when he went to the media center after his celebration in Victory Lane.
“It was somewhat friendly, right? It was just kind … yeah, I don’t, I don’t remember what I really did to be honest,” Hocevar said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “No, if anything, I just wanted to remind him, really, of just like, hey, I still won, I guess. I don’t know. But at the end of the day, he did a really good job.
“He’s super, super talented. That group built a really fast truck. I remember watching Zane [Smith] go on to win against us in that truck. It’s all harm, no foul, and I’m sure my bird is real small to just hit and contact. So, it’s all friendly, and when I see him, I’m sure we’ll laugh about it.”
