Kevin Harvick reacts to Kyle Larson, David Gravel on-track scuffle

Kyle Larson and David Gravel waged war both during and after this past Friday’s World of Outlaws “Knight Before” the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway. But it was the incident after the checkered flag that had everyone talking.
Rico Abreu won the race, Carson Macedo finishing runner-up. Just behind them, Larson and Gravel were engaged in a fierce battle for third. Larson narrowly beat Gravel to the line before spinning on the cool-down lap after the two continued to make contact. Gravel pulled up alongside Larson and appeared to show his displeasure. The post-race incident certainly overshadowed Abreu’s moment, but provided great entertainment for the crowd at Eldora, Kevin Harvick said on his “Happy Hour” podcast.
“Larson leaned into it and he said, ‘Gravel and I negotiating his High Limit contract for 2027.’ When Larson leans into that type of stuff, it makes it fun,” Harvick said. “They booed the shit out of David Gravel Saturday night for all the stuff he said and did. But they pulled them into the trailer — the World of Outlaws trailer — so they kind of had High Limit, World of Outlaws together there at Eldora. Sprint car racing got pretty spicy this weekend, and I loved that.”

Both drivers were escorted to the World of Outlaws command center after the race. Gravel later vented his frustrations with Larson.
“I don’t know if I’m satisfied about it yet,” Gravel said on the DIRTVision broadcast. “He’s been running me same way for the last couple of weeks and it starts at Huset’s and he’s got a vendetta towards us. We could keep playing that game, but eventually it’s not gonna be good, but he should be a professional. He thinks our team’s not professional, and he should be the ultimate professional. He’s not driving like that on the racetrack. So, we’re friends, but I guess right now we’re not.

“That is past the point. It was all the stuff before that. He did it to me twice in that feature before that. I gave it back to him once and then he gave me it back again. And, you know, him running third or fourth this race doesn’t change his life. He doesn’t do this for a living and, you know, he’s gotta remember that and we’ll see.”
Larson had a more light-hearted analysis of the incident with Gravel: “Just @DavidGravel and I ironing out the details of his 2027 High Limit contract tonight on the backstretch at Eldora. Still negotiating terms… mainly how he’ll handle racing against the best every night.”
Gravel, however, kept a serious tone in his response to Larson: “Two of your top drivers got hurt this week maybe that would open your eyes on how to race with respect. If you and all your fans think that how you race in a sprint car is racing with respect you are fooled. I will take all the smoke. As far as the contract better make it good.”
