Kevin Harvick reacts to latest race loss to son Keelan: 'I got my ass kicked'

Another CARS Tour race last weekend and another win for Keelan over his soon-to-be Hall of Fame dad, Kevin Harvick. How about the 13-year-old getting the best of his old man not once, not twice, but three times? He even threw in another win in the middle of the week this week to rub his dad’s face in it.
Kevin Harvick lost the race to his son at Hickory Speedway last weekend in the CARS Tour. Fun fact: Keelan is the only driver to win a CARS Tour and CARS Tour West race.
Following loss to Keelan, Kevin spoke about it on his Happy Hour podcast. I mean, what else could he say? He just flat out got beat.
“I got my ass kicked,” Harvick said with a laugh. He’s not lying, either. His son won the race while he finished P4.
“It was [fun], and you know I think, I think it surprises everybody that he’s faster than I am,” Harvick continued. “But you and I have talked about this. I knew this was going to happen, right? Like it’s just, the kids have speed. I mean, it’s not just Keelan. … It’s just a natural evolution of what happens from generation to generation. We get slow, they get fast.”

Kevin Harvick continued on about Keelan and his progress. You can tell that he is very excited about the racer and the young man his son is becoming.
“I told you, I told you guys a couple of weeks ago, you saw a lot of these pieces start to fall in together with the comfort inside the car and now it just keeps evolving and now that confidence level goes up,” Harvick said. “But we had a great event, Keelan did a great job in the CARS [Tour] and it was Mr. Hendrick’s birthday on Saturday as well, and we had HendrickCars on the cars. So, Keelan, it was a good weekend. Everybody was able to be at the race track close to home.”
It definitely doesn’t hurt Keelan to have his dad and Rodney Childers in his corner. On top of tha,t he has the support of Rackley WAR and is no stranger to Ron Hornaday Jr. There is a lot that he can learn from those around him. Clearly, he has learned a lot and quickly at a young age.
For what it’s worth, Keelan Harvick gave his dad another L this week. They raced up at Owosso Speedway for the JEGS CRA All-Stars Tour. Keelan finished P2. He beat both his teammates, Dawson Sutton (P12) and his dad (P18). This time, Kevin took damage and was out of the race early.
