Kevin Harvick shared his thoughts on the fight that happened between two drivers at Bowman Gray Stadium late last month. On Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick weighed in on the brawl between Zack Staley and Justin Alverson.

“[Staley] is pretty well known at Bowman Gray Stadium,” Kevin Harvick said. “He’s a fiery guy. I think it kind of caught him off-guard. He kind of swerved at the guy, and that’s a big dude that jumped out of that car, and he went to just wailing on him when he got him on the ground right there. So might have bit off more than he could chew right there.”

The incident happened at the QRC HVAC and Refrigeration Street Stock Series feature. Zack Staley wasn’t happy with Justin Alverson after the race, and made it known by swiping the nose of Alverson’s car. That led to Alverson ramming his No. 82 car into the back of Staley, and the two got it on.

NASCAR Regional posted the video of the fight on its X/Twitter account, and the fans had a lot to say about it. “Embarrassing,” one fan wrote. “Not sure why anyone would cheer this kind of behavior. Both drivers should be suspended.”

Another fan wrote, “Opening night and they destroy their cars. What clowns, just punch it out in the pits instead of endangering track personnel. Both should be banned and suspended.”

NASCAR Cup Series drivers took on Bowman Gray Staduim earlier this year

The NASCAR Cup Series drivers got the Bowman Gray Stadium experience before the start of the 2025 season. On Feb. 2, the drivers competed in the Clash at Bowman Gray, and Chase Elliott won the exhibition race.

“I know it’s not a points race, but it is nice to win, for sure. Just really proud of our team for just continuing to keep our heads down and push forward, for sure,” Elliott said after winning the Clash. “Had a tough race. Ryan [Blaney] kept me honest there at the end. Denny [Hamlin] was really good at the second half of that break. I just felt like he was kind of riding, and I was afraid to lose control of the race and not be able to get it back.

“Yeah, fortunately it worked out. Great way to start the season. Huge thanks to everybody at Hendrick Motorsports, a lot of hard work over the off-season, NAPA Auto Parts, Chevrolet, some great partners. Excited to get to Daytona. It’s a great way to start the season.”
