Back in 2021, Kyle Busch made his debut at the Tulsa Shootout and on dirt, and he’s been hooked on the event ever since. The two-time NASCAR champ and his son Brexton are set to take on the massive event in Oklahoma once again in 2024.

In the last few years, Kyle Busch has really gotten into sprint cars and dirt racing. Give that credit to Brexton. Busch has been set on being a part of his son’s young racing career and that means racing everything. From bandoleros to sprint cars and go-karts.

Having a two-time NASCAR champion at the Tulsa Shootout is cool. Of course, former dirt guys like Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson attend the event most years. While Bell has a car entered, he’s not racing it. Larson is also not entered this year in Tulsa.

However, Wild Thing is going to be racing in two classes. He will be in the Outlaw Winged and Non-Winged classes. Busch has won a heat before and competed well against dirt’s best drivers. He’s only improved on the dirt since he began racing it.

As for Brexton, he will be entered in the Restricted A Class and Junior Sprints, according to FloRacing. Brexton has had a big 2023 and is ready to get 2024 started off with a bang as well.

Even in the offseason, these Cup Series drivers are getting busy. Hailie Deegan is also entered in the Non-Winged Outlaw class as well as Winged A-Class and Stock Non-Wing. She has been practicing with her fiancé, Chase Cabre.

Incoming Xfinity Series rookie Jesse Love will also be racing, making his Tulsa Shootout debut in all four Micro divisions.

Kyle Busch heading into second year with RCR

Rowdy is coming into his second year with Richard Childress Racing. To start 2023, Busch looked like he was a championship-caliber driver. I’d argue he was for most of the season. However, the wheels started to fall off late in the year. With bad luck and poor car setups in the playoffs, Busch suffered.

Still, the No. 8 car found itself in Victory Lane three times and had a shot at a few more. Given how RCR has performed in recent years, it was a great overall season for Busch and that team.

However, the two-time champ would like to make himself a three-time champion. If he is able to do that at Richard Childress Racing, it will be a career-defining moment and a historic achievement in and of itself.

While I know 2024 hasn’t even begun, I can’t wait to see what happens in 2025 and beyond. Could we possibly see Kyle Busch take the wheel of the No. 3 car at RCR? What are your expectations for Rowdy in the next season?
