Ahead of the NASCAR weekend at Dover, Kyle Busch was calling on NASCAR to make a major change to the Next Gen car that is overlooked. This car is affected by dirty air more than any car before. So, why make it easier to block?

Kyle Busch has had his complaints about the Next Gen car. Everyone in the garage has had issues with the car. But there are a few easy fixes that can be done to at least make things a bit more difficult for the drivers on the track, particularly the leaders.

Drivers, since 2022, have been allowed to have a traditional rearview mirror and/or a rearview camera with a display the driver can see. Busch thinks the cameras are fine, but with one caveat.

“I mean, us talking about it isn’t going to change anything, but I would say that, if you run the mirror, you don’t get a spotter,” Busch said, via Steven Taranto of CBS Sports. “If you want a spotter, then you don’t get a mirror – the camera. So, pick one. … What would I pick? I would pick the spotter over the mirror.”

Dover is one of those tracks that is difficult to pass on. It doesn’t help when the guy in front of you can see the moves you’re making in real time on a video display, on top of the information his spotter is giving him in his ear.

Kyle Busch has had problems with these things in the past. Turns out, he’s still not happy about it. After a solid race overall, Busch ended up settling for P11.

Kyle Busch, Richard Childress Racing lagging behind

Even with another regular season almost behind us, Kyle Busch and Richard Childress Racing are still struggling. Only two top-five finishes for the 8 team this season, and the top-10s come far and few between.

Dover was a race that Busch should have had a great finish at. For a while, it looked like he might be one or two adjustments away from contending for the lead. It just wasn’t meant to be. This team is incapable of finding that extra gear and cannot put Busch in cars that he needs right now.

Richard Childress expressed concern on the radio of both Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch after the race. If this organization can’t find that speed in these last few weeks, then they will miss the playoffs once again. Busch is a future Hall of Famer, has 63 wins to his name, but can’t sniff the lead with RCR.
