Kyle Busch takes car to garage after losing wheel, crashing into wall

Kyle Busch got into a wreck and lost a wheel during the NASCAR Cup Series Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The incident occurred during the second stage of the race.
“It’s broke, it’s done, the brake pedal is done,” Busch told his team, per Davey Segal of SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Busch made it to pit road without his right rear wheel and tire.
After losing the wheel, Kyle Busch and his No. 8 car were sent the to the garage for repairs. With the incident, NASCAR handed him a two-lap penalty. Additionally, NASCAR will hand a two-race suspension to Busch’s tire changer and jackman.
Despite the lost wheel, Kyle Busch has had a strong start to the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. After finishing 34th at the Daytona 500, the 39-year-old earned three consecutive top-10 finishes. But Busch is looking for a win, as his last victory came during the 2023 season.

Before the season began, Busch talked about what he needs to do to stay at Richiard Childress Racing (RCR). “I would say you gotta win, right?” Busch told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “Unfortunately, we weren’t able to win last year. So, being able to get back to Victory Lane, being able to build on some consistency. Getting those top-fives, top-tens, getting that number higher than what it was [last] year is definitely, paramount. Had a rough summer last year, had a lot of DNFs in that stretch that kind of brought us outside the playoff rank and being able to get ourselves in contention. So, definitely want to have a lot better sense of all of that, earlier in the year would be better, but it’s always a long year and you’ve got to fight it out every week.”
Busch missed the playoffs last year and finished 20th in the standings, his worst finish since 2005. In 715 Cup Series starts, Busch has won 63 races and earned 382 top-10 finishes. His last victory came during the 2023 Enjoy Illinois 300 at Gateway Motorsports Park.
