Kyle Larson reacts to wreck during Indy 500 Fast Friday practice

Today’s IndyCar Fast Friday practice has been up and down for Kyle Larson. He wrecked in his first few laps on the track today. Fast Friday is when drivers get to boost up the horsepower and feel what it is going to be like during qualifying.
Kyle Larson has now wrecked twice this season at Indianapolis. That won’t stop him from pushing the limits for the rest of the week, though.
Following his wreck, Larson went to the infield care center. He was released and then spoke to the media.
“Yeah, I think so,” Larson said when Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports asked if he can maintain his confidence. “I think so. I think the conditions will be better tomorrow. I’m sure the track is actually cooling down a lot now, similar to what tomorrow will be. Bob, you see me crash all the time. So, I don’t think it usually affects me. But yeah, we’ll see.
“Like, today, I think when you turn the boost up for your speed lap, usually it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ you’re flying. That didn’t feel like as crazy as like the open test felt like when I turned it up for the first time. So, I’m happy the speed didn’t scare me or anything like that. I think, as long as the car is okay, I think we’ll be fine.”
For what it’s worth, Kyle Larson is back on the track. His Arrow McLaren team got his car repaired and the driver is ready to get going again. Can’t say that his confidence has taken a hit at all.

Kyle Larson hits the wall head-on
Kyle Larson was running his laps and all was fine. Then it wasn’t. Larson’s left side tires dipped too low on the narrow “apron” and eventually into the grass. It caused him to lose control and spin out.
Larson spun from the grass and into the outside wall. He hit the wall directly with the nose. His Arrow McLaren car might be somewhat salvageable. Watch it for yourself.
The wreck was different from the one he had in April. This one was on the inside of the track, with his April wreck coming against the outside wall. Don’t forget that Larson will be replaced by Justin Allgaier for practice and qualifying at North Wilkesboro.
Kyle Larson will qualify for the Indianapolis 500 this weekend and race in the All-Star Race. If it comes down to it, Larson says he will skip the Fast 6 in order to make the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro.
