Kyle Larson violently flips, slams into catchfence during World of Outlaws race at Plymouth

Last night, Kyle Larson had a scary moment in the World of Outlaws race at Plymouth Dirt Track when his right rear axle broke. Flying around the track, the NASCAR champion was pacing off of Rico Abreu when he was launched into the fence by the force of his own car.
These sprint cars are wild. The racing is fast, exciting, and the flips are violent and at times, terrifying. Kyle Larson had one of those scary wrecks last night.
Going into Turn 1 early in the feature race, Larson’s right rear wheel popped off and it sent him tumbling and eventually sent him up into the air and into the fence. For a moment, it looked like he might clear the fence itself.
Being the badass race car driver that he is, Kyle Larson got out of the car and cut an interview right after. He is fine, and there won’t be any issues with him racing this weekend at Michigan. This is one of those hits that will make Rick Hendrick and Jeff Gordon cringe.
“Uh, I don’t know, I think the right rear axle or something broke,” Larson said. “So, just kind of launched me and along for the ride. Bummer. I felt really good pacing Rico there and just finally catching traffic and you know, get racing there, but wasn’t going to happen. So, glad I’m okay, big hits, but all in all feel fine.”
Kyle Larson was racing in his own High Limit Series prior to the World of Outlaws race at Plymouth. It was a High Limit takeover as Rico Abreu took the win in High Limit and then went in and stole one from the Outlaws. A nice, healthy rivalry between the two series is good for the sport.

Kyle Larson ready for Michigan NASCAR action
Now that he’s done slinging dirt for the week, Kyle Larson is going to turn his attention to the NASCAR Cup Series. Practice and qualifying at Michigan are coming up early this morning after Truck Series qualifying is over with.
Michigan is a special place for Larson. He earned his first career win at Michigan in 2016. He has won three times at the track. However, his last win came all the way back in 2017 when he swept the pair of races in the Irish Hills.
Big track, big speed, you have to think that Larson has a chance to win at Michigan under those circumstances. He gets the most speed out of his car and does it in ways that other drivers simply can’t.
Thankfully, Kyle Larson is fine after his massive wreck in the World of Outlaws race. I’m sure the Hendrick camp is happy that they won’t have to have an awkward press conference about why Larson won’t be racing this week.
