Kyle Petty predicts Chase Briscoe has more wins coming this year

Chase Briscoe shocked the NASCAR world with his win to get into the playoffs over the weekend, but Kyle Petty doesn’t believe that’s the last time he’ll get to Victory Lane.
During his weekly review of the race, Petty spoke glowingly about the Southern 500 as a whole, and pointed out Briscoe and the No. 14 team could be a force in the playoffs. After a victory in Darlington, anything is possible for the Stewart-Haas Racing wheelman.
“The Southern 500. It should be the starting race of the season, the closing race of the season, the cutoff race, and we should run all 10 of the playoff races at Darlington. What a fantastic Southern 500. I’ve got nothing negative to say,” Petty said, regarding Sunday’s event. “Let me tell you something, the most dramatic race I think I’ve seen in a long, long time. Maybe the best Southern 500 I’ve ever seen. There was so much going on. Yes, yes, yes, Kyle Larson dominated, but hey, did anybody know where he went the last 10 or 15 laps? We didn’t even mention him post-race. What about that? A guy leads 200 laps at Darlington, you don’t mention him. … But in the end, where did Chase Briscoe and SHR come from?
“Those guys don’t appear to have shown up all year. Crew chief talked about all the shenanigans that were going at the shop, the chaos that was happening over there, the 325 employees. They had to do something for that team. They had to do something to make it happen. He willed that car to victory. It was an emotional Victory Lane. It was an emotional day. That’s a great story for the sport, and the sport is better for teams like SHR. The sport is better for drivers like Chase Briscoe. Put his name on that trophy, and listen, that may not be the last trophy he puts his name on this year. This is going to be a great playoffs.”

It’s certainly possible for Briscoe to go on a tear. He’s done so in his career before, namely in the Xfinity Series, but he’s had trouble with consistency in the Cup Series, whether it’s his fault or the decline of SHR remains to be seen. Next season, he’s headed to Joe Gibbs Racing, so he’ll need more performances like the show he put on Sunday.
Regardless, Chase Briscoe has ten more races remaining with Stewart-Haas Racing, but he’s only guaranteed three as a member of the playoff field. We’ll see if he can continue his hot streak and keep the vibes high during his final run as the wheelman of the No. 14 over the next couple of weeks.
