The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Carolina Panthers 20-9 on Monday night. However, the biggest story of the night didn’t come until after the game concluded.

During the postgame srum at midfield, 49ers WR Jauan Jennings singled out Panthers DB Tre’von Moehrig and hitting him in the face. It was later shown that Moehrig appeared to punch Jennings right below the belt before the end of the game.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan reacted to the low blow. Based on his reaction, Shanahan’s feelings aren’t based in anger toward Jennings’ actions postgame.

“The guy took a cheap shot and hit him in the balls,” Shanahan said. “I was really proud of Jauan for not losing his mind out there and get him to the sideline.”

Jennings said at his locker after the game that all he was doing was responding to “childish behavior. While Moehrig said that Jennings had been talking trash all game long and even pushed him in the back. Whatever it was, it came to a head in the final moments of the 49ers win.

Jennings finished the game with five receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown during the winning effort. Meanwhile, Moehrig was the second-leading tackler for Carolina during the matchup. He ended the game with four solo tackles (eight total) to go along with one tackle for loss.

The victory improves San Francisco to 8-4 on the year. Carolina drops down to .500 at 6-6 overall.

Christian McCaffrey led the way for the 49ers’ offensive effort, rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries while also catching seven passes for 53 yards out of the back field. He was second in receiving yards to TE George Kittle, who led the game with 78 yards receiving during the win.

The 49ers were still able to overcome Carolina despite three first half turnovers from QB Brock Purdy. It was his second game since September after injury held him out for six weeks this season.

San Francisco will move forward to face the Cleveland Browns on the road during Week 13. Meanwhile, he Carolina Panthers will host the Los Angeles Rams next week.

It remains to be seen if any disciplinary action will be taken by the league toward either of those players. For now, it appears that Jennings is fine in the eyes of his own head coach.
