Lamar Jackson injury update: Adam Schefter reveals latest chances Ravens QB plays vs. Rams

The Baltimore Ravens have been without star quarterback Lamar Jackson in Week 4. Now, it’s trending like he won’t be available for yet another game in Week 6.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter appeared on Get Up on Thursday morning. While on, he explained that Jackson wasn’t able to practice on Wednesday. Nothing is set in stone. However, because of that, it appears that his chances of playing on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams are trending in the wrong direction.
“No Lamar Jackson yesterday,” Schefter said. “It is tracking for him not to play again on Sunday. Let’s keep in mind that the Ravens have a bye week after this upcoming game against the Rams. So, if Lamar Jackson doesn’t play Sunday and right now it doesn’t seem like he will, he would get two weeks to rest up that hamstring injury and then make a push in the second half of the season.”
In the loss to Kansas City, Jackson was knocked out by a hamstring injury. For any player, that type of issue is tough to navigate. It’s particularly difficult for a quarterback like Jackson, who relies on his legs. It’s, in fact, a key part of what makes him so effective. A two-time NFL MVP, it’s also important to avoid making the injury worse and potentially losing him for the entire season.
The trouble for Baltimore is that the season has already gone sideways on them. Going into the game against the Rams, the Ravens are just 1-4. That included two close losses to Buffalo and Detroit when Jackson was healthy. It also includes blowout losses to Kansas City and Houston when he was injured.

As of now, it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers that lead the AFC North at 3-1. So, the Ravens are already playing catch-up. Another loss before the bye week and Baltimore will be in a massive hole that, even with a schedule that eases up in its level of difficulty and a healthy Lamar Jackson, would be difficult to overcome.
This season, Jackson has completed 71.6 percent of his passes for 869 yards and 10 touchdowns. That’s with one interception. He has also rushed for 166 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Since Jackson went down, Baltimore has been turning to Cooper Rush. A formerly undrafted quarterback, Rush is best known for his time with the Dallas Cowboys, where he was the backup to Dak Prescott. Now, he’s in his first season with the Ravens. In three games this season, he’s completed 69.7 percent of passes for 231 yards and three interceptions. He doesn’t have a touchdown pass.
Baltimore is set to host Los Angeles on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST. It hasn’t been made official yet, but it appears that the Ravens will turn to Rush ahead of an injured Jackson once again.
