Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed the end of last weekend’s loss against Kansas City with a hamstring injury. Now, ESPN’s Adam Schefter thinks we could be looking at an absence that, based on the schedule, could keep the Ravens’ quarterback off the field until Week 7.

Schefter provided an update on Jackson while on ‘Get Up’ on Thursday. Since he didn’t practice yesterday and is unlikely to do so today, Baltimore is likely going into Week 5 with Cooper Rush as its starter against the Houston Texans, with Jackson’s availability more so in question for Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams before the Ravens’ bye week.

“Really, the one big quarterback question mark, if you want to call it that right now, would be Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Last we saw him, he hobbled out of the locker room on Sunday after a loss to Kansas City with a hamstring injury,” Schefter said. “He did not practice Wednesday. The guess is he’s not going to practice today. And the chance is he’s not going to play on Sunday against the Houston Texans, which would put Cooper Rush into the starting spot. The bigger question would be will the Ravens wind up playing Lamar Jackson next week, when they have a bye the week after.”

Jackson has not played since the end of the third quarter in the 37-20 loss to the Chiefs in Arrowhead on Sunday. It was significant enough to take him out in the fourth quarter, but not serious enough to where he’ll be out long-term. But, as for this weekend against the Texans, Jackson is unlikely to play, especially with him not practicing on Wednesday.

Already at 1-3 overall, and two more difficult games ahead before their bye in Week 7, the Ravens might need Jackson in there in some must-win matchups coming up. Still, needing him and several other players to be healthy for its remaining 11 games, Schefter thinks Baltimore just has to find a way to win one of the next two against Houston or LA, with or without Jackson in the lineup.

“In that division, with their schedule? They are far from out of it, far from out of it and they have the history they do,” Schefter said. “The issue they have right now, as we look at the schedule? They could be without seven or eight regular defensive starters on Sunday against Houston. This defense is decimated.

“There’s the next four games, though, and that bye figures in before the Rams game. This is a three-game home stretch. Honestly, they’re not thinking like this, but we can say it. They’ve got to find a way to win one of these next two, get to the bye, and get healthy for the stretch run.”
