Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson may not play on Sunday against the Houston Texans due to his hamstring injury. Jamison Hensley of ESPN reported that Jackson did not practice on Thursday due to the injury, and it’s the second consecutive day he has missed practice. It was also revealed that safety Kyle Hamilton did not practice on Thursday due to a groin injury. He was limited in practice on Thursday.

Jackson suffered the injury in the Ravens’ 37-20 loss to the Kansas Chiefs last weekend. If he can’t play this weekend, Cooper Rush will likely get the start at quarterback.

After the game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh addressed the injury. He shot down the idea of Jackson ever returning to the game.

“There was no way he was going to go back in the game, the injury precluded it,” Harbaugh said. “During the game, you’re really just playing the next series as a coach, but there was no way he was going to go back in the game. The way I know Lamar, if he could’ve gone into the game, he would’ve … that’s how he is.”

On Wednesday, reporters asked Harbaugh about Jackson’s status for Sunday. Harbaugh seemed optimistic at the time.

“Lamar’s working,” Harbaugh said, per ESPN. “He is doing a great job.”

It’s possible Jackson could miss as many as three weeks because of the hamstring injury. But for now, it is not clear how long Jackson is officially out.

“Hamstring injuries typically keep a player out for 2-4 weeks, depending on the severity, though a source said that Jackson will try to see if he could return in time for Sunday,” Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun wrote. No reports have drawn a firm deadline.

Adam Schefter of ESPN said he doesn’t see Jackson playing on Sunday. He elaborated on that guess on The Adam Schefter Podcast.

“I would say that there’s a question as to whether he’ll play this week and next week,” Schefter said. “And if they hold him out those two games, he basically gets a month off to rest the hamstring.”

Jackson is off to a strong start to the 2025 season, throwing for 869 yards and 10 touchdowns with one interception. But the Ravens are off to their worst start in 10 years with a 1-3 record. Baltimore lost the season opener to the Buffalo Bills before beating the Cleveland Browns the following week. The Ravens then lost to the Detroit Lions before suffering a loss against the Chiefs last Sunday.
