Lamar Jackson injury update: Report reveals Ravens QB's Wednesday practice status after hurting hamstring

Lamar Jackson is dealing with a hamstring injury suffered during the Baltimore Ravens’ 37–20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. His status for this week’s game against the Houston Texans is now very much in question.
On Tuesday, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reported that Jackson is “likely” to sit out in Week 5, and Wednesday’s practice only added to that speculation. According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Jackson did not take the field, marking a troubling sign just days before kickoff.
Unfortunately, Jackson’s absence could be more than a one-week issue as well. Wacker also noted that Jackson may miss two to three weeks with the injury. For a Ravens team sitting at 1–3 and in need of a spark, that would be a crushing blow.
Against the Chiefs, Jackson wasn’t playing like his usual self, even before suffering the aforementioned injury. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 147 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, while adding six carries for 48 yards before leaving in the third quarter.
If Jackson can’t go on Sunday, backup Cooper Rush is expected to take over, per ESPN. But beyond this weekend, his availability for Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams is murky. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero provided more context earlier in the week, emphasizing both the severity of the injury and how Baltimore may manage it.
“Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s status is up in the air for this week’s game against the Texans because of the hamstring injury that forced Jackson to leave Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs in the third quarter because of a hamstring injury,” Pelissero said.

“John Harbaugh did not add a lot of details about the injury when he spoke with reporters on Monday, other than to say there was no way that Lamar could have come back into the game, even if the score were more competitive. That is certainly an indication that Lamar Jackson is in danger of missing time because of this injury.
“The schedule also, potentially, is a factor. They’ve got two more games before a Week 7 bye. Given Jackson’s play style, his importance to the team, could the Ravens potentially hold Lamar for the next two games, give them almost a full month to recover, and make sure he’s fully healthy after the bye? We’ll get more answers when the Ravens get back on the field for practice on Wednesday.”
Through four games this season, Jackson has thrown for 869 yards, 10 touchdowns, and just one interception, completing 71.6% of his passes. He’s also rushed for 166 yards and a score. But the Ravens have stumbled, with narrow losses to the Bills and Lions adding to their current struggles.
Losing Jackson against Kansas City didn’t help, and Baltimore now faces the reality of playing without their superstar quarterback. For a team already in desperation mode, getting Jackson back sooner rather than later will be vital if they hope to climb back into the playoff race before it’s too late.
