Lamar Jackson seems destined to miss time for the Ravens. After suffering a hamstring injury during Baltimore’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday, the star quarterback’s availability moving forward is up in the air.

According to Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun, Jackson is likely to sit Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. That might not be the only game Jackson misses either — Wacker pointed out that the Ravens star could miss two-to-three weeks with his hamstring ailment.

That’s brutal news for the 1-3 Ravens. During their 37-20 loss to the Chiefs, Jackson went 14-of-20 for 147 yards, one touchdowns, one interception. He ran six times for 48 yards.

At 1-3, Baltimore is certainly in some sort of desperation mode. If Jackson is out this weekend, it seems like backup Cooper Rush would step up against the Texans. It’s anyone’s guess whether Jackson will be able to return the following week, when the Ravens host the Los Angeles Rams.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero provided some insight into the injury earlier on Tuesday, as well: “Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s status is up in the air for this week’s game against the Texans because of the hamstring injury that forced Jackson to leave Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs in the third quarter because of a hamstring injury,” Pelissero said.

“John Harbaugh did not add a lot of details about the injury when he spoke with reporters on Monday, other than to say there was no way that Lamar could have come back into the game, even if the score were more competitive.  That is certainly an indication that Lamar Jackson is in danger of missing time because of this injury, the schedule also, potentially is a factor.

“They’ve got two more games before a Week 7 bye. Given Jackson’s play style, his importance to the team, could the Ravens potentially hold Lamar for the next two games give them almost a full month to recover and make sure he’s fully healthy after the bye? We’ll get more answers when the Ravens get back on the field for practice on Wednesday.”

All tin all, Jackson has 869 yards, 10 touchdowns, one interception and a 71.6% completion percentage through four games. He also has 166 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Unfortunately, the Ravens fell short to the Buffalo Bills on opening weekend 41-40 and had a shootout loss to the Detroit Lions, 38-30, in Week 3.

Losing Jackson in the middle of the game against the Chiefs certainly didn’t help either. To return to the playoffs, Baltimore certainly needs its MVP franchise QB. We’ll see if he can return sooner rather than later.
