The Philadelphia Eagles received some good news about guard Landon Dickerson, who suffered an injury during practice on Sunday night. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Dickerson will undergo “a minor procedure” on the meniscus in his right knee in the coming days.

Dickerson will then be considered week-to-week. The goal is to have him return to action when the Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener on Sept. 4.

During practice at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, Landon Dickerson went down after the pass play and was carted off the field. On Monday, Schefter reported that the former Alabama offensive lineman suffered a meniscus injury.

Dickerson has become one of the top guards in the NFL after the Eagles selected him in the second round of the 2021 draft. In his four seasons, the former Alabama star has been named to the Pro Bowl three times and helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl last year.

Landon Dickerson signed a big contract with the Eagles last year

In March of 2024, Dickerson signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the Eagles, making him the highest-paid guard in NFL history at the time. “It just shows a lot of respect, how much trust they have in me to continue to grow as a player, develop and do good things for this team and this City,” Dickerson said at his press conference after signing the contract, per the Eagles’ official website.

“Going into my fourth year now, I think that I can absolutely step up and have more of that leadership role. The extension really shows the respect and the potential that the coaches and Howie (Roseman) think that I have as a player. That only makes me want to continually try to get better, keep improving on my game day after day.”

Having Dickerson back sooner rather than later is big for the Eagles, as their offensive line was a big key to their success last year. Dickerson plays alongside  All-Pro Jordan Mailata, Pro Bowl selection Cam Jurgens and future Hall of Famer Lane Johnson. The group helped Eagles rush for an NFL single-season record  3,866 rushing yards in the regular season and playoffs combined last year.
