Latest injury update on Pittsburgh Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster suffered a shoulder injury on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. Smith-Schuster took a handoff on an end around, and he took a big hit from Broncos safety Kareem Jackson. He was in a lot of pain as he was helped off the field, and he did not return to Sunday’s game.
Now, it appears as if the injury is a serious one for Smith-Schuster and the Steelers. He is expected to be put on injured reserve, per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
“Steelers expected to put JuJu Smith-Schuster on injured reserve and are fearful he will miss rest of the season after injuring his shoulder vs Broncos, per sources,” Dulac tweeted.
Smith-Schuster’s loss is a big blow to a struggling Steelers offense
So far on the season, Smith-Schuster has 14 receptions for 129 yards. He has not yet found the end zone this year. His 14 receptions and 129 yards are the fourth most on the team.
Chase Claypool leads the team with 341 receiving yards while Diontae Johnson leads the way with 25 receptions.

Smith-Schuster played three seasons at USC before being drafted 62nd overall in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Steelers. At USC, Smith-Schuster caught 213 passes for 3,092 yards and 25 touchdowns. In his five NFL seasons with the Steelers, he has played in 63 games, hauling in 323 receptions for 3,855 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Claypool, Johnson, and James Washington have all been dealing with injuries. That makes Smith-Schuster yet another tough blow to the Steelers’ receiving group. The injuries have put even more pressure on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is banged up and has been struggling this season. Roethlisberger has completed just under 64 percent of his passes for 1,286 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions.
The Steelers are currently 2-3 and sit alone at the bottom of the AFC North division. Every other team in the division has three wins.
