Lavar Scott signs with Alpha Prime Racing for full-time 2026 NASCAR O'Reilly Series season
Great news for Lavar Scott. He is going to go racing full-time with Alpha Prime Racing in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Scott made two starts with Alpha Prime in the 2025 season. A P19 at Gateway showed that he might be ready to make the leap.
After multiple seasons in the ARCA Menards Series and a pair of runner-up finishes in the championship standings, Lavar Scott is moving on up. The 22-year-old from New Jersey is ready to race in the O’Reilly Series full-time.
Alpha Prime Racing is a good place for young driver to learn and develop. The team gets by with what they have and doesn’t have major budgets. However, they are able to field competitive cars. Brennan Poole has shown just how good APR can be with a few top-five finishes in the last two seasons.
Lavar Scott is a good young driver. He is one of the nicest and most polite drivers you will meet in the garage. Now, he’s getting his big shot.
Lavar Scott has competed for Rev Racing in the last few years in ARCA. Moving up to the O’Reilly Series will be a big jump. He could find himself in situations that are new, confusing, and challenging. However, he has experience in racing now. He’s been so consistent in the ARCA Menards Series against drivers who are moving up through the ranks of the sport now.

Lavar Scott moving up the ranks
Alpha Prime Racing is still solidifying plans for the 2026 season. Brennan Poole is back and now we know that Lavar Scott is full-time as well. Poole could be a great mentor for Scott in the 2026 season as he embarks on his rookie season. Poole is respected and known for getting the most out of his equipment.
What will be considered a successful season for Scott as a rookie? Keep the car clean and finish as many laps as possible. When the opportunity arises to make it to the top-10, top-5, then take advantage of that opportunity. But don’t try to get it when your car can’t take it. Parker Retzlaff learned that the hard way in 2025 with eight DNFs.
Limit DNFs and make the most of the days when the car has competitive speed. If Scott can do that, then he might end up having a successful season.
Lavar Scott has a chance to audition for bigger teams as he races the 45 car next year. If he can put up good results in that car, someone else might come calling for the next season.
