Layne Riggs calls out Grant Enfinger for Lap 1 wreck after Roval Playoff race

Fighting the whole race with no sway bar, Layne Riggs made sure to call out Grant Enfinger after the finish at the Roval. Enfinger caused a Lap 1 wreck that collected Riggs and Corey Heim, the front row of the race. It had a big effect on the NASCAR Playoffs.
Layne Riggs entered today with +21 points to the cutline. Now, he is one point below the cutline. That swing can be credited the chaos in overtime and the damage he suffered on the first lap.
In his post-race interview on FS1, Riggs was still very upset with how the race started. He didn’t mince words about Enfinger and his team.
“Something broke in the rear-end housing. I think the axle or the clutch went out or something,” Riggs said. “I don’t really know what happened. But it all started on the first lap of the race. I mean, I don’t know what the 9 was doing. That’s twice this year I’ve gotten wrecked by them. I got fenced at Watkins Glen, had about the same kind of day, and then today, same deal.
“You’re supposed to learn from the veterans and take advice from them, but they need to start taking advice from us because they’re obviously showing their talents they have. So, yeah, really upset for everybody at Ford Racing and Front Row Motorsports. Clew nicotine pouches, they deserved a lot better day. We had a lot better truck. Like I said, initial lap contact broke the sway bar, so I had no sway bar the whole race. Um, yeah, I got a lot more words to say, but that’s for a later time.”
Corey Heim went on to come back from the wreck to win the race somehow in overtime. It was possibly the most impressive of his ten wins this season. Of course, that is also a Truck Series single-season record.

Layne Riggs comes up short on comeback effort
Layne Riggs was not as lucky as the winner of today’s race. To his credit, he drove up into the top-10 without a sway bar. That is very difficult to do in any truck, car, or racing vehicle that would have a sway bar.
This was a race that ended with only one driver truly happy. Brent Crews finished P2 in his part-time effort in the 1 truck. He was on his way to the win when Toni Breidinger ran out of gas on the track and came to a stop. Then, Heim stole it away by staying out for track position.
Multiple drivers throughout the field were mad at other drivers or simply the race itself. It was one of those classic, but not so great, Truck Series finishes. The Roval encourages it. With only a couple of true passing zones, drivers have to crank up the aggression. That same aggression led to a pileup that allowed Heim to run away on old tires, too. Give and take.
Layne Riggs and the 34 team did a great job getting his truck going the right direction. By the time overtime began, Riggs didn’t have the truck to get the job done. He faded in the field and now, has to fight for his Championship 4 hopes at Talladega and Martinsville.
