A violent wreck in the IndyCar Detroit Grand Prix as Louis Foster lost his right front suspension and slammed into Felix Rosenqvist. This might be the hardest non-Indy 500 wreck in some time for the series.

While only two cars were involved in the incident, both Louis Foster and Felix Rosenqvist took hard hits into the barriers on the streets of Detroit. As a result, the red flag was displayed.

Both drivers were tended to by safety crews. Rosenqvist assured the crowd he was fine as he was loaded into the ambulance. Foster was later released from the care center.

Just a violent hit. Good news to hear both drivers appear to be in at least good spirits.

Felix Rosenqvist did get further evaluation after leaving the care center. He said he had pain in his knee, according to Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. However, it appears that all is going to be okay after that evaluation.

The Detroit Grand Prix was very eventful. Prior to the big wreck with Louis Foster and Rosenqvist, series points leader Alex Palou wrecked out of the race. He went right into a tire barrier and ended his day early. He will likely be just fine as far as the championship is concerned.

Coming off the momentum of the Indy 500, the Detroit Grand Prix is an important race. It is there to help pull in those casual IndyCar viewers and show them what the series can offer on road and street courses.

Racing on the city streets of any major American city is a big deal. IndyCar has made Detroit home for many years and did its best to give fans a good show this afternoon.

Kyle Kirkwood wins after Louis Foster wreck, red flag

When the red flag came out, there were 12 laps left in the IndyCar race at Detroit. It played right into Kyle Kirkwood’s hands as he charged to the finish line to give himself his second win of the season.

This season has been defined by Alex Palou and his dominance. Five wins in the first seven races are nothing to sneeze at. However, the Florida Man, Kyle Kirkwood, is doing his best to make things interesting as far as the championship is concerned. He is the only other driver to win a race this year, and he has now done it twice.

Santino Ferrucci had a much-needed P2 finish today. He was suffering for a good finish and now has two top-fives in a row between Indy and Detroit. Colton Herta was P3 and Will Power P4, with Kyffin Simpson having his best run of the season in P5.

A really rough hit for Louis Foster and Felix Rosenqvist. However, it is nice to hear that the two drivers are doing just fine. World Wide Technology Raceway, Gateway, is next up on the schedule. A little bit of oval racing again for the second of five oval races in total in 2025.
