Malik Nabers injury: Kayvon Thibodeaux stunned to learn WR feared to have torn ACL

New York Giants star receiver Malik Nabers was hurt on Sunday in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers. And teammate Kayvon Thibodeaux found out about the severity of the injury in the locker room after the game.
He was devastated. Rightfully so.
“Yeah did they give an update on that?” Thibodeaux asked a reporter who was mid-question. The reporter had mentioned the loss of Nabers.
“Feared it’s a torn ACL,” the reporter responded. That Malik Nabers news had been reported only moment earlier.
At that point, Thibodeaux’s facial expression changed. He closed his eyes and looked up toward the ceiling briefly before dropping an expletive.
“F***. Man, you know, he’s a ballplayer, man. That hurts,” Thibodeaux said. “But we definitely, I hate to say it, but we didn’t blink an eye. He’s a guy we need, a part of our team we need out there on the field, but it’s next man up. That’s the name of the game, and we’re just got to keep on going.”
You can see Thibodeaux’s reaction to the Malik Nabers news below. He was clearly upset.
Malik Nabers was injured while trying to make a catch over a Chargers defensive back. He immediately clutched his knee upon landing.

Nabers finished the game with two receptions for 20 yards but was still the team’s leading receiver at halftime of quarterback Jaxson Dart‘s first NFL start. No other receiver had more than one reception in the first half by the Giants.
His loss figures to be huge for New York. Nabers is in his second season with the Giants after being drafted sixth overall in the first round by New York in the 2024 NFL Draft. He quickly cemented himself as WR1 in the Giants offense during his rookie season.
By the time the year was over, Malik Nabers caught 109 of his 170 targets for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. Now, it appears that Nabers’ sophomore season has come to an unceremonious end less than four games into the year.
