Marlon Humphrey roasted for criticism of Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles' Olympic podium bow for Rebeca Andrade

Baltimore Ravens defensive back Marlon Humphrey found out this week what it’s like to be on the wrong side of a bad sports take. After Team USA stars Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles’ made an ultimate show of sportsmanship by bowing to gold medal-winner Rebeca Andrade of Brazil on the podium after the individual floor finals, Humphrey posted on social media: “This is literally disgusting.”
As it turns out, not many people agree with Humphrey’s opinion. His post on X has over 7.5 million views one day after he decided to share his thoughts, it also has more than seven thousand responses.
“This is literally beautiful,” a poster responded. Another wrote: “God forbid athletes show respect to a fellow athlete who has suffered a torn ACL multiple times.”
Humphrey acknowledged the backlash to his take in another post hours later on X. He wrote: “I’m lowkey getting cooked right now. I think I’m getting cussed out in Brazilian on Instagram lol.”
Unfortunately for the Ravens standout, his response only led to more opportunities to roast him. Social media users were quick to point out that he wasn’t getting cussed out in “Brazilian” because Brazilians actually speak Portuguese.
Andrade takes first individual gold in Paris on floor
It was the first gold medal for Andrade at the 2024 Olympics, and Biles and Chiles made sure she got her due, bowing down to her during the medal ceremony. Andrade had a long journey to her individual medal, including recovery from three separate ACL tears in her career.
Andrade’s gold medal on Monday came after the United States won gold in the women’s team final earlier at the Paris Olympics.
In addition to the team victory, Simone Biles also won gold in the women’s all-around final, with Rebeca Andrade earning the silver. The two also finished 1-2 in the women’s vault final, with Biles once again coming out on top.

However, on Monday, it was Andrade’s time to shine as she took first in the women’s floor routine with a score of 14.166, just ahead of Biles, who came in at 14.133. Chiles finished third with a score of 13.766.
Biles ‘tired’ of competing against ‘way too close’ Andrade
Previously at the Paris Olympics, Biles spoke about Rebeca Andrade and what it is like to compete against her. She acknowledged that the Brazilian is constantly pushing her.
“I’m excited and proud to compete with [Andrade], but I don’t like it no more,” Biles said, per NBC Olympics. “I mean, I’m getting uncomfortable, guys. Don’t like that feeling. I was stressing.
“I don’t want to compete with Rebeca no more. I’m tired. She’s way too close. I’ve never had an athlete that close, so it definitely put me on my toes and it brought up the best athlete in myself.”
Andrade made it clear that she has a ton of respect for Biles, too.
“It was really cool knowing that I made her work, right?” Andrade said of Biles through a translator, per NBC Olympics. “It’s an honor to be able to compete next to her.”
