The Seattle Kraken are getting an influx of celebrity talent into their ownership pool. On Monday, the newest NHL franchise announced two Seattle stars are now minority owners — former Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and Grammy Award winning rapper Macklemore.

Of course, Lynch celebrated in the only way he could — whipping a Zamboni around the ice, evoking memories of his days at California when he was wheeling carts on the football field.

While the wide-angle is fantastic, the Zamboni-cam on Lynch may prove to be an even better view. The Kraken shared a tremendous point-of-view shot of the former Seahawks star whipping the ride.

“They should’ve known not to put me behind nothing with a steering wheel,” joked Lynch, driving the zamboni to perfection.

The videos of Lynch on the Zamboni are works of art. In addition to the joyful content, the former NFL star spoke about how special it is to be a part of the Kraken in a press release from the franchise.

“On God, I’ve been a part of a lot of things,” said Lynch, via the team’s website. “But this is something I never would have imagined. As a young hyena I always dreamed of playing on a professional team but owning one is something special.

“As I look back on some of my accomplishments – I retired before I was 30 and now being an owner of a professional club at the age of 35 – I’m gonna continue to count my blessings. Being a part of the Seattle Kraken is something big for me.

“It gives me another chance to get a ring after helping bring the first NFL one to the city. And if you thought I was goin’ somewhere, nah Seattle, I’m here! Stand up!!!!”

Continuing, the Kraken announced that Lynch will participate in the team’s “Hockey is for Everyone” campaign and work with the team to plan events focused on young people and community activism. Additionally, Seattle added that it serves as a natural extension of Lynch’s 2018 Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination.

Lynch isn’t originally from Seattle, but he’s made a home in the city. The beloved “Beast Mode” spoke about what makes the city so special, and why he’s elated for the NFL to experience it.

“I have so much love and appreciation for Seattle, like for real,” said Lynch. “The thing is, I know Seattle looks out for and supports me too. It’s only right I continue to plant seeds and give back to the city. The Kraken have been committed to connecting with diverse communities in Seattle since Day One. Joining up with the squad to have some meaningful impact was a no-brainer.”

Additionally, Macklemore echoed Lynch’s sentiment, as the duo has been prevalent in representing Seattle in pop culture for years now. According to the former NFL running back, the new owners will go farther than most, even willing to even strap on a pair of skates if it helps the team.

“I’m ready to get it going [with the community programs],” said Lynch. “And you know I’m not afraid to strap on some skates if it comes down to it.”

That’s about the only way Seattle Kraken owner Marshawn Lynch can top his Zamboni joyride. Here’s to hoping the former NFL running back takes his talents to the ice in the future.
