Marvin Harrison Jr. injury update: Cardinals WR undergoes surgery for appendicitis

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. underwent surgery for appendicitis on Monday night, the Cardinals announced Wednesday. Harrison is out for Sunday’s Week 11 home contest against the San Francisco 49ers and potentially longer.
Harrison was coming off a game in which he tied for a career high with 12 targets. He hauled in three of them for 33 yards and a score, as the Cardinals fell 44-22 to the Seattle Seahawks. The week prior, Harrison hauled in a career high seven passes for 96 yards and a score in the Cardinals’ 27-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Harrison, who struggled to begin the season, was just starting to turn a corner with Jacoby Brissett now throwing him passes. Brissett has started the last four games for Arizona and will continue doing so with Kyler Murray on injured reserve with a foot sprain.
Cardinals lose Marvin Harrison, WR room decimated
In total, Harrison has 34 receptions for 525 yards and four touchdowns. Only tight end Trey McBride, 61 receptions, 603 yards, six touchdowns, has outproduced Harrison on Arizona’s offense. McBride should see even more volume with Harrison sidelined, as well Zay Jones, who tore his Achilles against Seattle. It didn’t stop there for the Cardinals, who placed another wideout in Simi Fehoko on injured reserve with an arm injury sustained in Seattle.

“It’s life in the NFL,” head coach Jonathan Gannon said. “It’s our job to put a plan together and get ready to go out and compete and win. That’s the job.”
Currently, the only remaining wide receivers on the 53-man roster are Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch and Xavier Weaver. Tejhuan Palmer, Andre Baccellia and Jalen Brooks are options on the practice squad.
