Maxx Crosby trade rumors: Cowboys insider reports no contact between Dallas, Raiders DE

According to Clarence Hill of DLLS, there has been no contact between the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders over Maxx Crosby. Rumors began to swirl on Tuesday about the Cowboys potentially trading for Crosby. However, to this point, there appears to be no movement from the Dallas end.
“Per source, the Cowboys have not made any contact with Raiders about Maxx Crosby,” Hill said via X. “That doesn’t mean they haven’t had any internal discussions about possible moves or options. But ‘Haven’t talked to Raiders about Crosby’, per source.”
Former ESPN personality Trey Wingo set social media ablaze with his own tweet, saying the Cowboys inquired about Crosby. But ever since then, Dallas media has slowly pushed back on the idea. As Hill says, options are still open. NFL Network’s Jane Slater added more after Bryan Broaddus of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas echoed similar things to Hill.
The need for a pass rusher in Dallas is an obvious one ever since trading away Micah Parsons. A lot of defensive moves might be needed, at least from the outside, but getting an elite player off the edge solves some problems for the Cowboys. Even with a few guys on the roster already finding success.
In seven games played, Crosby has 28 total tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, and four sacks. Nine quarterback hits are a massive bonus and needed inside Matt Eberflus‘ defense.

If there is going to be anything to these rumors, how the two teams play in the coming weeks will likely heavily factor in. Dallas finds itself at 3-3-1, fresh off a massive NFC East victory over the Washington Commanders. Las Vegas is not trending in the right direction, sitting at 2-5 and dead last in the AFC West. Every other team in the division possesses a record over .500.
“What’s realistic is if we see an opportunity, we are in as good shape as we’ve ever been to improve our team,” Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said via 105.3 The Fan.
They are in good shape to acquire a player due to the Parsons trade. Dallas holds an extra two first-round picks over the next two years from the Green Bay Packers, maybe using them to bring in an impact player. Some think Crosby could wind up being the guy, returning to his home city, and bringing a new spark for an important stretch run.
