Merril Hoge on Chiefs three-peat being greatest accomplishment: 'There's no question'

Former NFL running back Merril Hoge knows the Kansas City Chiefs would be in a class of their own with a three-peat in the Super Bowl.
Could this be the greatest accomplishment in pro football history? Hoge thinks so, at least in the Super Bowl era. Kansas City takes on Philadelphia in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans next week with a chance to do something that’s never been done before.
There have been attempts to do what the Chiefs can achieve, but everyone’s fallen short. KC is just 60 minutes away next Sunday.
The countdown to Super Bowl LIX is on! Merril Hoge gets you ready with the best tips to host your ‘Big Game’ gathering. For more information on LG, FarmRich, Pinter and Cricut, watch the beginning of Merril’s interview with On3 HERE!
“Oh, I would think so,” Hoge told On3. “Since the Super Bowl era, absolutely, there is no question, because there’s been several teams that have, you know, San Francisco had a chance, Pittsburgh, New England. Those are the three I can think of. Maybe there’s more in the super bowl era, and nobody ever’s been able to pull it off. So to do it, there’s no doubt they put themselves in an elite league category.”

Along with Super Bowl LIX being a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, the game could make NFL history as the Chiefs are looking to be the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Other teams have won three straight championships, but not three Super Bowls.
“First off, I want to give all glory to God,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes told CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson after the Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship on Sunday, per Fox News. “Without Him, none of this is possible, and I truly mean that. I’m just so proud of my teammates and how they responded. That was a great football team. I’m just at a loss for words. I’m excited for New Orleans.”
The Eagles are heading to the Super Bowl after defeating the Washington Commanders in the NFC title game. Running back Saquon Barkley led the way, tallying 118 yards and three touchdowns.
Super Bowl LIX between the Chiefs and Eagles is set for February 9th at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
