The Giants put a whooping on the Eagles in Week 18, so much so that their stadium began to catch fire during the game.

Well, at least that’s what it looked like. While there was smoke, it was likely from the grill of a sausage stand or some other vendor serving up some hot food. Still, it made for a pretty wild scene.

Check out the video shared to X (formerly known as Twitter) from Justin Penik of Talkin’ Giants. Make what you will of it for yourself.

Alas, “The stadium is finally on fire,” is a reference to an ongoing joke (or call to action) from Penik and his co-host Bobby Skinner. Who would’ve thought we’d get some close to seeing it actually come to fruition?

At the least, it gave the Eagles some solace seeing the smoke rise into the night sky. As many believe their Super Bowl dreams have gone that way over the last couple of weeks, it’s only a fitting way to end the 2023 season.

The Giants are headed on vacation, golfing or wherever to do whatever their players have planned for the offseason, but they can do it with a smile on their faces. The vibes were high after finally slaying the Eagles in grand fashion, and only dropping one spot in the 2024 NFL Draft because of it.

As for the Eagles, Philadelphia backed their way into the playoffs after starting the season roaring hot. They’ll now have a date with the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay in the Wild Card round, as Baker Mayfield looks to put the final nail in the coffin of the Birds.

All in all, a win wouldn’t have made much of a difference for the Eagles in the end anyways. The Cowboys had some trouble with the Washington Commanders early on, but Dallas poured it on their NFC East rival after a slow start, capturing the division crown in the process.

Now, the Cowboys will welcome the Green Bay Packers to AT&T Stadium next Sunday, as they’ll face the No. 7 seed in the NFC, instead of having to take their show on the road like Philadelphia will.

Regardless, we got a pretty entertaining game (if you’re a Giants fan) on Sunday afternoon between the two division rivals, and nobody was hurt, except for the feelings of those who drove up from Philadelphia. Not a bad way to end the season at MetLife Stadium.
