As the ACC race heats up, a big game awaits in DFW. That’s where Miami will take on SMU, and the opening point spread has been revealed.

The Hurricanes (6-1, 2-1 ACC) opened as 10.5-point road favorites over the host Mustangs (5-3, 2-1 ACC), according to BetMGM. The over-under also opened at 51.5 total points.

Miami and SMU are both looking to cement their spots in the race toward the ACC Championship. That adds to the stakes in their Week 10 matchup at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

Things got especially interesting in the ACC after Miami fell to Louisville in Week 8. It marked the Hurricanes’ first loss of the year, and since it came in conference play, that meant only three teams entered Week 9 with undefeated records in league play.

Carson Beck struggled mightily in that loss to Louisville, throwing four interceptions for the first time in his career. He received some high praise from Miami head coach Mario Cristobal, though, for how he approached the following week.

“We’ve seen him handle it very professionally,” Cristobal said. “I make sure that every player and every staff member knows that we win together and lose together. Finger-pointing won’t exist here. Besides making these guys better football players, you have to make them better men and better people.”

SMU, meanwhile, was one of the last remaining undefeated teams in ACC play heading into Week 9. The Mustangs took down Clemson in Week 8 to improve to 3-0 in league play, entering a matchup against Wake Forest in Week 9. However, the Demon Deacons got a walk-off field goal to pull off the upset and hand SMU its first conference loss of the year.
