Miami Dolphins set to explore trade options on star CB Jalen Ramsey

Jalen Ramsey remains one of the top cornerbacks in the league having spent the past two seasons in South Beach. Now, though, the Miami Dolphins are reportedly looking to move him and could do so as early as within the next week.
Per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero on Tuesday morning, the Dolphins and Ramsey have come to an agreement for him to look for a trade. That deal could even come within the next nine days, in his opinion, in order for Miami to be able to use any draft capital acquired in it during the 2025 NFL Draft next week.
“The #Dolphins and seven-time Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey are mutually set to explore trade options and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he played elsewhere in 2025, per me and @TomPelissero,” Rapoport tweeted. “Miami and Ramsey, due $25.1M fully guaranteed this season, could be parting ways.”
“While there is no firm deadline on a possible trade, with the NFL Draft 9 days away, completing a trade prior to the draft would make sense — if only so Miami can use the pick or picks they would acquire for Ramsey,” noted Rapoport in a follow-up quote tweet.

Ramsey, though, could be more complicated to trade for due to his contract. He’s coming off consecutive deals at what were, at the times, record-breaking numbers for a defensive back. That made him the sports’ highest-paid corner last season as he’ll be the Dolphins’ third highest-paid player next season behind only QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR Tyreek Hill.
Ramsey is coming off his ninth season in the NFL and second in Miami. He posted 60 tackles, 11 deflections, a pair of interceptions, and a sack in a full season’s slate of work in their secondary. However, it was the first time in five years and third time in his career that he didn’t earn any league honors. He’d been to the Pro Bowl in the four consecutive seasons prior while also earning two of his three honors as First Team All-Pro in that stretch as well while with the Los Angeles Rams.
Ramsey could be in a deal at any time depending on when they find a partner to be part of that possible trade. That said, next week’s draft could speed up that timeline if Miami would be receiving any selection for him in 2025.
