A preseason game has come and gone for the Dallas Cowboys, all without star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. No contract extension has been agreed upon quite yet, leaving Lamb back in Texas while the rest of the team goes through training camp in Oxnard. Each day that passes, the story becomes bigger and bigger.

Plenty of Cowboys players have been asked about the situation, with Micah Parsons being the latest on Tuesday. Parsons has faith that Lamb will get his contract figured out and be with the team “soon.”

“I’m pretty sure he’ll be here soon,” Parsons said via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

The regular season is not too far away. Dallas will begin the year against Cleveland on Sept. 8, one of the top matchups of Week 1. Walking onto the field without Lamb would severely hamper the Cowboys, losing one of the top pass catchers in the NFL.

Lamb would be sacrificing quite a lot as well. Game checks are incredibly lucrative, sitting around $1 million per week. While Parsons did not specifically mention the potential fines, he is still confident Lamb will be suited up to face the Browns.

“Parsons said he has no doubt that Lamb will be on the field Week 1 for the Cowboys,” Machota said.

Now, it’s unlikely Dallas would be satisfied with Lamb just showing up on game day. Getting at least a few days of work in with Dak Prescott and the rest of the offense would be required. Not necessarily through a preseason game but some usual training camp drills.

Dak Prescott looking for urgency in CeeDee Lamb contract negotiations

Jerry Jones is making headlines once again, saying there is no urgency to get a deal with CeeDee Lamb done. Dallas will play in their first preseason game of the year on Sunday but are still without their star wide receiver in training camp. It’s been a lengthy contract negotiation with seemingly no end in sight.

Dak Prescott spoke to the media shortly after Jones on Thursday, reacting to the comments made. If you ask the Cowboys quarterback, there definitely is some urgency to get Lamb signed.

“I can tell you I got a sense of urgency for it to happen,” Prescott said via David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.

Lamb is fresh off his best-ever season in the NFL, being named first-team All-Pro and finishing third in Offensive Player of the Year voting. His 135 receptions led the league while adding 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns — all career highs.
