Micah Parsons to Penei Sewell: 'I'mma see you twice a year, so we might as well buckle up'

Micah Parsons made his debut with the Green Bay Packers this afternoon. It was also his debut in the NFC North, with him looking forward to playing one of the division’s top tackles for many more seasons to come.
Following the 27-13 win for the Packers, Parsons commented on the matchup with OT Penei Sewell of the Detroit Lions. He enjoyed the matchup with him and their offensive line throughout the course of today’s opener, with it being the first of many meetings of Parsons-Sewell over the next few years in the NFC North.
“I just feel like, to start the game off, it was just like, you know, Penei, Penei, Penei. And, it’s just Micah, you know what I mean? So, I just feel like I embraced the matchup and, you know, you got to win those matchups,” said Parsons. “And then, later on in the game, they gave me my respect, came back with the chips, the slides and that’s the type of respect that is warranted. But you got to earn it out there on the field. You know, I got to go show them that I can beat their best, and that’s what happened.”
“But, you know, that’s going to be a rivalry for the next four or five years. I’m not gonna be able to get rid of him. He’s a hell of a player,” Parsons said. “I told him, I said, ‘You’re my new rivalry now. Like, I don’t got Lane (Johnson) no more. It’s going be you. I’mma see you twice a year, so we might as well buckle up. It’s going to be a long one.'”
Parsons had an alright first game as a Packer. He had a tackle and a sack for a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit in the two-score win over the Lions, beginning the year with a win that’ll go on their divisional record as well. It was his first action of the past few months, though, having been dealing with a back issue, meaning better performances should be coming as he gets more comfortable with his new defense.

The Cowboys’ trade of Parsons was ground-shaking for all of the NFC, let alone the NFL. That includes offensive lines around the division with him set to come at them for several seasons now as part of the Packers.
Green Bay fans give Parsons standing ovation in season-opener
The Green Bay Packers aren’t taking Micah Parsons for granted. When Parsons made his Packers debut on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, the crowd at Lambeau Field erupted, raining down cheers on the three-time All-Pro.
Parsons’ first play for the Packers was a 3rd & 7 for the Lions. Despite being lined up against OL Penei Sewell, Parsons pressured QB Jared Goff, forcing him to throw out wide where other Packers defenders shut down the play.
