Micah Parsons injury: Cowboys LB pulled from game vs. Giants, heads to tent

Micah Parsons left Thursday’s game against the New York Giants in the second quarter after the spotter appeared to buzz down to the officials. He immediately headed to the injury tent.
Parsons went to make a play on a pass from Daniel Jones to Wan’Dale Robinson, but left the field with an official afterward. The trainers then took him to the medical tent for further evaluation as the Giants made a field goal to make it a 7-6 Cowboys lead.
As Parsons went to make the tackle on Robinson, teammate Mazi Smith came in to help and appeared to hit him in the helmet. Afterward, the referee took him to the sideline, where he met with the training staff. The team later said he had a neck injury but would continue to play in the game.
Prime Video’s Kaylee Hartung said the Cowboys sent a crew of officials into the tent with Parsons after his injury. However, he ended up back on the bench with his helmet in hand after a few minutes, and she said a stinger was the main concern.
“Micah Parsons was evaluated for a neck injury in the medical tent,” Hartung said later in the second quarter. “The concern, I’m told, was a stinger, which is irritation of a nerve at the end of the neck. So that helps explain why they needed so many medical professionals in the tent with him to get him to go ahead back on the field.”
The Cowboys are looking to get back on track after a loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week to drop to 1-2 on the season. They struck quickly against the Giants as Dak Prescott found Rico Dowdle for a touchdown after a flag got picked up, taking a 7-3 lead as a result.

New York then went back down the field and kicked a field goal to make it 7-6. Then, Prescott made another big play when he hit CeeDee Lamb for a 55-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 14-6 in the second quarter. That drive occurred as Parsons got evaluated by the training staff, and he was back on the field afterward.
The defense was going to be important for Dallas against Jones, Malik Nabers and the New York offense. Micah Parsons knew that, and he issued another call to action prior to the game this week.
“It’s very hard to tell because everyone was nodding their head like, ‘Yeah, we all agree.’ But at the same time, it’s not (showing) out on the field,” Parsons said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.
“I feel like as a competitor, at some point you got to be prideful enough to say, ‘I’m not going to allow this to happen to me.’ I just feel like some people are just allowing them to keep getting smacked in the face. When are you going to stand up?”
