Micah Parsons injury update: Green Bay Packers reveal initial status ahead of Lions game

The Green Bay Packers have released their first practice report for the Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions and shared an injury update on pass rusher Micah Parsons and quarterback Jordan Love. The team announced that Parsons was a limited participant at practice on Wednesday due to a back injury. Love was a full participant at practice with a thumb injury.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Micah Parsons is dealing with an L4/LF5 facet joint sprain in his back, and he may receive an injection before the game against the Lions on Sunday. Before trading Parsons to the Packers last week, the Dallas Cowboys prescribed him a five-day course of prednisone, a corticosteroid to help him recover from back tightness.
Several Packers said Parsons practiced with the Packers on Monday and was a limited participant. Parsons’ new teammates are excited to have him on the roster, as they are looking to reach the Super Bowl.
Packers players are ready to see Micah Parsons in action
“I think it upped our chances by a lot,” Packers offensive lineman Rasheed Walker said Monday, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “We got a solid pass rush across the whole line. I don’t think no one’s gonna be able to throw the ball like that on us. It’s gonna open up opportunities for our DBs and our offense, so yeah, I feel like Micah’s gonna have a good presence on the field and it’s gonna really be advantageous to us.”

Jordan Love underwent a procedure for a ligament injury in his left thumb following the first preseason game. Love continued to wear a brace on his thumb on Wednesday, but he should be ready to go on Sunday.
Parsons and Love are not the only Packers dealing with injuries heading into the season opener. Safety Zayne Anderson was a limited participant on Wednesday due to a knee. Cornerback Nate Hobbs is also dealing with a knee issue and missed practice.
Wide receiver Jayden Reed also did not practice because of a foot injury. Four other players were limited participants in practice, including OL Elgton Jenkins (hip). DL Barryn Sorrell (knee), WR Dontayvion Hicks (calf) and WR Savion Williams (hamstring).
