Micah Parsons injury update: Mike McCarthy shares latest on Cowboys star ahead of Friday practice

Dallas Cowboys (3-3) head coach Mike McCarthy said that linebacker Micah Parsons remains in the rehab group, making him unlikely to participate in Friday’s practice, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Parsons has missed the last two games after suffering a high-ankle sprain in the Week 4 win over the New York Giants (2-5), and it remains unknown if he will make a return in Sunday’s Week 8 road contest against the San Francisco 49ers (3-4).
Prior to Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2), Parsons had never missed a game due to injury. He has yet to practice since sustaining the injury. Parsons said Monday his status for Sunday was “up in the air.”
“It’s still [up] in the air,” Parsons said. “Obviously it’s more than just me. I have to clear it with [Cowboys director of rehab] Britt [Brown], the coaches, the head coach. They want to make sure — obviously because there’s so many games left — that I come back at the best result. Sometimes, it’s not always the player’s decision. It’s the people with the higher pay grade.”

Micah Parsons uncertain to play in Week 8 vs. 49ers
The Cowboys could certainly use the two-time All-Pro back in the lineup, especially coming off the 47-9 blowout defeat to the Detroit Lions (5-1) in Week 6. Dallas has generated 14 sacks through six games, just one coming from Parsons in the four games he has featured in. Parsons is the face of the Cowboys’ defense, having compiled 41.5 sacks in 54 games throughout his career.
Parsons said he feels good to go physically.
“I don’t think there’s anything I can’t do physically,” Parsons said. “Like I said, it’s just more they want to make sure I’m at my best and they kind of know what my best looks like, and so it’s just one thing that just got to keep working and showing it. They’re monitoring the situation.”
