Star pass rusher Micah Parsons was at least temporarily sidelined for the Green Bay Packers during a Sunday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys. He appeared to be holding his back.

The injury occurred late in the third quarter, just prior to Dallas driving down the field for a go-ahead touchdown. So Parsons’ potential absence looms large.

The NBC broadcast crew provided a brief update on the situation. Sideline reporter Melissa Stark chimed in with the news.

“Yeah, Mike (Tirico), before this drive a member of the athletic training staff came over and had a conversation with Micah Parsons,” Stark said. “We saw him come over holding his low back. And then he just went into the medical tent. Was not happy about it. And the independent concussion specialist just came out of the tent, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation.”

Parsons would return to the field for Green Bay on its ensuing defensive drive. Luckily for the Packers, the offense drove right back down the field to retake the lead at 27-23.

Micah Parsons, of course, is playing in a hugely meaningful game tonight. It’s his first game against his former franchise, the Dallas Cowboys.

Parsons was traded to Green Bay after reaching an impasse over his compensation in Dallas. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been vocal about the trade ever since.

Jones noted he was hoping Parsons wouldn’t have a big game against Dallas. Of course, he probably wasn’t hoping for an injury.

“I think the world of Micah. I might say I wish him well, but it’s obvious I don’t this weekend in terms of Green Bay winning the ballgame,” Jerry Jones said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “… He’s going to make some plays no matter how you play him, but when I saw (other teams) play us well with Micah in the game, and it did happen, then obviously we’ll be looking to try to run those kinds of plays (against him).”
