The severity of Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons‘ knee injury has been revealed. According to Jordan Schultz, an MRI confirmed a torn ACL.

It was reported on Sunday night that the Packers feared Micah Parsons tore his ACL in the game against the Denver Broncos. The injury happened in the third quarter when the former Penn State star was going after Broncos quarterback Bo Nix. It was a non-contact injury, and the Packers ruled Parsons out for the rest of the game.

Parsons joined the Packers this season after spending the previous four years with the Cowboys. He has made an immediate impact, registering 12.5 sacks in 14 games.

“I just feel like his presence out there was different,” Packers quarterback Jordan Love said about Parsons at the start of the season, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “The energy he brought to the crowd when they announced his name and then to be able to get that sack was big-time.”

“I’m telling you, these last six months were super draining, super toxic for everyone,” Parsons said at the time. “It’s something that I don’t think no player should have to go through. I think players’ fates should be decided earlier. I think the fact that I was traded a week before the season was really outrageous and rough. It’s something where I could’ve been with these guys getting better and better, and we could’ve had probably an even more dominant start if that was the decision we were going to make.”

In late November, Parsons became the first player in NFL history to record 12-plus sacks in his first five seasons. “I feel like going into the offseason, it was supposed to be my year, my year to be the best player and just trying to live up to that,” Parsons said per Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. “Obviously, not having (training) camp, it took me a little more of a while to get into a rhythm. Being in championship football games, division games, I just have to step up my level of play and just be the person they brought me in to (be).”

The Packers lost to the Broncos on Sunday and are currently 9-4-1 on the season. They currently have the final playoff spot in the NFC.
