Mock drafts across the board had the Dallas Cowboys taking Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. As popular of a pick as any out there, a big-time wide receiver was thought to be heading to Dallas. But the Carolina Panthers shook things up by taking McMillan at No. 8 overall.

Well, as the selection came across the stream, Cowboys star Micah Parsons gave his reaction. He was not too happy, hoping to get some help for CeeDee Lamb. Parsons almost looked too stunned at times while former Eagles cornerback Darius Slay enjoyed the moment.

“That was supposed to be our pick,” Parsons said. “He was supposed to be opposite of CeeDee Lamb.”

Just a few picks later, the Cowboys made their actual pick at No. 12. They still took an offensive player but decided to beef up the line of scrimmage. Alabama‘s Tyler Booker will be wearing a star beginning next season, likely facing Parsons in practice every single day.

Dallas will still have an opportunity to select a wide receiver before the draft is over. It’s a massive position of need, as you can tell from Parsons’ reaction. Not too many times are pass rushers upset about not getting an offensive skill player.

McMillan will go to work in Carolina with quarterback Bryce Young. Dak Prescott was thought to be the Arizona product’s quarterback of the future. The NFL Draft can be a crazy event and shock everyone out there, even the league’s current players.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Tetairoa McMillan

Now that McMillan has been drafted, fans may be wondering what to expect from their new wideout. NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein provided his analysis of the dynamic wide receiver from Arizona.

Lance Zierlein: Possession receiver with the size and ball skills to create big wins deep. He’s a linear route-runner who wears press coverage early and coasts too often on deep routes, but he has a feel for uncovering underneath and can play over the top of cornerbacks for easier jump-ball wins.

“McMillan is instinctive with a feel for adjusting his routes and working back on throws to make the quarterback’s job easier. He needs to show more consistent play speed and physicality to protect his workspace. His elite ball skills set him apart, though, providing a higher floor as a “Z” option with mismatch value in the slot.”
