The latest wrinkle in the Micah Parsons contract dispute took place on Thursday evening. Social media is now playing a role, with some messaging from the player coming via X. Parsons posted a photo with a Bible verse, reading, “Micah 7:8 Even if I fall, I will rise; the Lord is my light.”

A peace sign was attached as the caption. Clicking on his profile, a couple more things stand out. First, the picture attached is also now Parsons’ profile picture after previously being him in a Dallas Cowboys uniform. But he also took the team’s name out of his bio.

Now, the bio says “Penn State 2021. TBD.” His header is also a picture of him from his college days with the Nittany Lions, speaking to the media after winning the Cotton Bowl alongside former teammate Journey Brown.

Throughout this situation, Parsons has remained active on social media. However, this is likely his most eye-popping tweet since announcing his trade request on Aug. 31. Putting “TBD” in his bio aligns well with his expressed desire to play elsewhere, inferring another team will be in his future.

At the same time, seeing athletes change their social media information is nothing new. Parsons has remained present when the Cowboys are practicing, usually watching from the sidelines. There has been no holdout, more of a hold in. More than anything, everyone is waiting to see if the same remains true for the season opener on Sept. 4 against Philadelphia.

Tom Pelissero reveals latest in Micah Parsons contract dispute

The contract dispute between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys has now dragged to within two weeks of the regular season beginning. Still, progress remains incredibly slow toward reaching an agreement.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero had the latest on the contract dispute. He explained that even though the season is rapidly approaching, there have been no further negotiations between the two sides.

“We are two weeks away from tonight from the kickoff game between the Eagles and the Cowboys,” Tom Pelissero said. “As you mentioned, Brian Schottenheimer said Wednesday that he is confident Micah Parsons will be out there. However, from my understanding, there is still no movement in terms of a contract extension that is expected to make Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. There is still no communication between the Cowboys and Parsons’ agent about trying to get a deal done.”
