The Washington Commanders beat the Denver Broncos 35-33 on Sunday to secure their second win of the season, matching the Dallas Cowboys‘ record at 2-0. Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson took to social media on Sunday night to boast about his squad’s unblemished record but was quickly reminded by Dallas edge rusher Micah Parsons that Washington’s biggest tests are still ahead.

“I’m coming…” Parsons posted on X in reply to Dotson.

Dotson and the Commanders have quite a few hurdles to jump before they hit the one with the star. The Cowboys play the Giants twice and the Eagles once before ever seeing their third NFC East opponent. The two teams will meet up for the Thanksgiving game at AT&T Stadium in late November. Dallas then travels to Washington for their second game on Jan. 7.

Parsons had what might end up being one of his best games of the season on Sunday against the Jets and is clearly hungry for more. He posted two sacks, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a recovery. He’s well on his way to matching his career-high in sacks despite insisting this offseason that he could get fewer this year due to his roving position.

Dotson, now in his second year, made the most of his snaps on Sunday, grabbing three catches for 22 yards. In Week 1, he had five catches for 40 yards. He’s still waiting for his first touchdown of the year, but it could come next week as the Commanders travel to take on the Buffalo Bills.

Dotson ready for breakout year

Jahan Dotson joined the 2nd Wind podcast this summer and vowed to make people notice him this season. He went so far as to declare this as his “breakout year” in 2023.

“This year I feel like I’ve gotta come crazy,” Dotson said. “Honestly, I feel like it’s my breakout year. This is what I’ve been working hard for. I’ve gotta make ’em feel me.”

After the Commanders drafted him No. 16 overall, Dotson started his rookie season off hot. He totaled four touchdowns over his first four games before unfortunately suffering a hamstring injury that caused him to miss the next five weeks.

Dotson returned after that, but it still took him a few more weeks to get back up to speed. By Week 15, he had his best game of the season to finish with four catches for 105 yards and a touchdown against the Giants.

Dotson ultimately tied with Christian Watson to lead all rookie receivers with seven touchdowns despite playing two fewer games than Green Bay’s rookie.
