Micah Parsons shoots down contract report from Cowboys reporter, sparks fan concern

Halfway through the month of May, there has been no solution to the Micah Parsons contract situation yet. A long-term extension with the Dallas Cowboys appears to be coming but as of now, the two sides cannot come to an agreement.

On Thursday, a report emerged about there being a “handshake deal” in place between Parsons and the Cowboys. Clarence Hill of DLLS sent out a quick deal, originally quote tweeting a story from the latest comments from Stephen Jones on the process.

Parsons quickly took to social media himself and shut down the idea. He posted a bunch of baseball hat emojis while saying “no kizzy.” Essentially, Parsons was saying there was no truth to there being any form of deal on a new contract.

Going through extension talks is nothing new for the Cowboys, especially where the noise on social media begins to grow. Fans in the replies to Parsons’ tweet did not seem too thrilled given the team’s history. Just last year, we saw Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb not get deals until near the start of the regular season. In the case of Prescott, just before the opener against Cleveland.

Parsons had previously stated he wished to get something done quickly. That has never been in Dallas’ DNA, no matter the player.

Even so, the positivity from the Cowboys’ front office remains there. Every time one of the Joneses is in front of a microphone, there is no sense of a deal not coming together. Timelines are not usually the most popular topic of conversation when asked. Most recently, Stephen was the one to express his confidence while still not putting any kind of label on things.

“I don’t comment on close or far away or any of that,” Stephen Jones said. “Those things usually, when the right things come together, and everybody’s ready to do a deal, then it happens. Certainly, we want Micah here, and he knows we want him here. I think, ultimately, we’ll get something done.”

What we do know is that there will be no holdout from Parsons if there is no signed contract by then. During the 2025 NFL Draft, Parsons confirmed he will be at training camp no matter the circumstances.

Ideally, for Parsons, this would all be over before then. Being as competitive as anyone in the league, going into training camp with no external distractions is his goal.
